Yesterday i playtested a series II Tenor serial no 707xxx. I was very much surprised about how good this horn played. It played better then a series III and a ref 54. The sound had a very good projection and was on the bright side but not too bright.

The Selmer S80 C* bass mouthpiece is excellent. The OD of the Selmer bass neck that fits the Selmer Bass mouthpiece is 0.700". This is slightly larger in diameter than most of the vintage bass instruments that are more common. These instruments' necks will often accept the slightly smaller neck diameter of baritone mouthpieces.

The HR* added kind of a buzz on top of everything that I didn’t like. If the Custom Dark feels stuffy to you, you’re probably using the wrong reed.

Personally I think working on altissimo IF you use it is a good idea, and the first 3-4 overtones are useful, but getting a million overtones is just a party trick.
